I’m seriously stunned right now.
Someone in my Criminal Justice class discussion said that men who rape women they are married to or men who rape women they find attractive should NOT be considered hate crimes because there is no hatred of women involved.
I really don’t even know how to respond to it. It is wrong on so many levels.
Honestly, I cried a little. It hurt my heart that much.
I’m too smart and tender hearted for this class I think.

I would honestly ask your professor if it would be possible to have a speaker come in/watch a documentary in or out of class. Hell, there’s a post at xojane.com that puts a face & experience on rape. Must get empathy engaged!

It’s interesting (and inane) that they can only see rape as an act of lust/sex/desire, which means they see it only from the point of view of the victimizer. The victim, of course, sees it as an act of violence, disrespect, and hate. Empathy failure.
