Do we have confirmation that Angel doesn’t identify as queer? We know that he’s had sex with another man at least once(since he doesn’t differentiate between Angel and Angelus). I mean obviously Angel/Wes is AU, but is his identification ever stated?

You know…I’m trying to think if Angel says it explicitly and I can’t remember so I’m opening it up to everyone else that might have a better memory. You are right that we shouldn’t assume canon heterosexuality (or queerness for that matter though) unless it is explicitly stated (or in Willow’s case, shown). (Of course, one could make the case that since Angel is shown having only heterosexual relationships with women, he might identify as heterosexual?)

Angelus does say the “I don’t swing that way…” line, which implies that if Angelus was identifying then it would be heterosexual. We do know that Angelus is a truth teller but again, he might be defining in the only language that he has, a language of binaries.

I mean, even use of queer, pansexual, pomosexual, etc. those are pretty new terms and considering Joss’ love of liberal and radical feminism, I doubt he would even consider anything else than the binary of heterosexual and homosexual.
